Step One: Defining your space. What type of space are you looking for? What will its purpose be? Are you looking for a quiet spa like getaway or a spiritual retreat? Do you want your outdoor space to be an ultra comfortable place with lots of lush patio chair cushions where you can entertain or a location that is designed just for you? Take a moment to decide the purpose of your space.
Lindsey Rocker Cushions Set. This is my personal favorite set of glider cushions. The micro-fiber, solid color fabric will bring a bright and refreshing look to any room and will provide comfortable seating for hours. This is also a 2-piece cushions set with the back and seat cushions, and they come in cream, Merlot, or spruce. The cushions are made with piping panels along the side and button tufts on the surface. These cushions are reversible which means you only have to clean them half as much! You can get a pair of these cushions for less than $60.
Emmas Garden Rocker Cushion Set. Do you like the greenery look? If so, this cushion set will probably be the one you choose. This is a garden-theme cushions set made of cotton. The print includes roses, lilacs, and other greenery on a solid background of jewel or mist. These cushions are also reversible, can be spot cleaned, and are manufactured in the USA.
For indoor and outdoor chairs, TheRockingChairCompany.com has a fantastic selection. Ranging from just tie-on chair bottoms, to standard cushions, to cushion sets. They have floral and striped fabric patterns, as well as some more sedated neutral colors good for everything from cedar rocking chairs to white wicker rocking chairs. Their cheapest single seat cushion runs about $25, the cushions with backs plus seat roam around in the $40`s and $50`s, and they even supply rocking chair bench cushions for $55-$99. And I notice they offer free shipping for many of their products.
On the second stop the shop was bustling, exciting for a fledgling business, but the owner had plenty of time for me. We found a perfect outdoor fabric in greens, tans, and reds, measured out the yards, found thread and stuffing for pillows and my sewing adventure began. I have sewn off and on over the years so I have experience, but I am not a regular at my machine. Fortunately it is a trusty Singer, a graduation gift 42 years ago, and it runs with glee. I gathered up my old cushions, washed and dried them, shook the stuffing back into every corner, and then set them atop my fabric. I cut one large cover for my favorite rocking chair and fashioned two pillows for my swing (one a cover-over and the other a new creation). After seams were in place I shoved in the old cushions, stitched up the hole left for stuffing, and had sparkling new ones.
